Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech – Tizi n’Tichka Pass – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate
Begin your Moroccan adventure with a scenic drive through the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 meters), Morocco’s highest road. Along the way, you’ll pass traditional Berber villages and terraced farms nestled against the hillsides.
Stop at the UNESCO-listed Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified ksar that has been featured in Hollywood films such as Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven, and Game of Thrones. Explore its narrow alleys and ancient architecture.
Continue to Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa,” and visit the famous Atlas Film Studios and Kasbah Taourirt.
Overnight in Ouarzazate with dinner and breakfast included.
Day 2: Ouarzazate – Skoura – Rose Valley – Dades Valley
After breakfast, travel through the palm oasis of Skoura, home to numerous historic kasbahs, including Kasbah Amridil, a beautifully preserved example of southern Moroccan architecture.
Next, pass through the Valley of Roses, a region famous for its annual Rose Festival and fragrant rosewater products.
Arrive at the dramatic Dades Valley, known for its stunning rock formations and winding roads carved through the gorge. Take in panoramic views of the valley and discover traditional Berber life.
Overnight in a charming riad or hotel in Dades with dinner included.
Day 3: Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Merzouga Desert (Erg Chebbi)
Leave Dades behind and travel to the spectacular Todra Gorges, where sheer cliffs reach heights of over 300 meters. Take a walk through the canyon and admire its natural beauty.
Continue through desert towns like Erfoud and Rissani, known for fossils and traditional markets.
Reach Merzouga, where your camel caravan awaits. Ride into the Erg Chebbi dunes, some of the highest in Morocco, and enjoy a sunset over the Sahara.
Spend the night in a luxury desert camp, where you’ll enjoy a traditional dinner, live Berber music, and unforgettable stargazing.
Day 4: Merzouga – Khamlia – Nomadic Families – Oasis Exploration
Wake early to catch the sunrise over the dunes, followed by breakfast in the camp.
Today is dedicated to exploring the Merzouga desert region. Visit the village of Khamlia, famous for its Gnawa music, and share tea with locals. Explore black desert landscapes, fossil sites, and meet nomadic Berber families living in traditional tents.
Discover a hidden oasis in the desert and learn how communities thrive in this arid climate.
Return to Merzouga and spend a second night in a desert lodge or riad for extra comfort.
Day 5: Merzouga – Ziz Valley – Midelt – Cedar Forest – Ifrane – Fes
Leave the Sahara and drive through the dramatic Ziz Valley, a lush strip of date palms running through deep desert canyons.
Stop in Midelt for lunch, nestled at the foot of the Middle Atlas Mountains.
Continue through the Cedar Forest near Azrou, home to wild Barbary macaque monkeys. Enjoy some time in nature before heading to Ifrane, known as “the Switzerland of Morocco” for its alpine-style architecture and cleanliness.
Arrive in Fes by evening, where you’ll check in to your riad.
