Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1

Marrakech Tizi n'Tichka Pass Ait Ben Haddou Ouarzazate Dades Valley

We depart from your Marrakech accommodation early in the morning and immediately begin our spectacular ascent into the High Atlas Mountains via the winding Tizi n'Tichka pass. Along the way, we'll stop to admire sweeping panoramic views and tiny Berber villages clinging to the steep mountainsides. Our first major destination is the ancient fortified village of Ait Ben Haddou, a remarkably preserved UNESCO World Heritage site featured in countless blockbuster movies. After a relaxing lunch and time to explore the kasbah's labyrinthine alleys, we continue to Ouarzazate to view the impressive Taourirt Kasbah. We end our day traveling through the fragrant Valley of Roses, arriving in the scenic Dades Valley where we will spend our first night.

Day 2

Dades Valley Todra Gorge Erfoud Merzouga Desert

Following a hearty breakfast, we leave the beautiful Dades Valley and drive towards the spectacular Todra Gorge, a massive geological fault dividing the High Atlas mountains that features sheer rock walls rising up 300 meters. Enjoy a peaceful walk by the crystal-clear river that flows through the narrow canyon. Afterwards, our journey takes us through Erfoud, a town renowned for its exquisite fossilized marble workshops, heading steadily towards the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi in Merzouga. Upon arrival in the late afternoon, you'll check into a charming, traditional desert hotel located right at the edge of the dunes. Here you can relax by the pool, take in the expansive desert views, and prepare for tomorrow's deep Saharan immersion.

Day 3

Explore Merzouga Region Khamlia Village Nomad Families Mifis Mines Desert Camp

Today is entirely dedicated to exploring the fascinating wonders of the Merzouga region. We'll start by visiting the village of Khamlia, home to people of Malian descent, to enjoy a captivating performance of their traditional, rhythmic Gnawa music. We then venture off-road in a 4x4, driving across the black volcanic desert to visit the ancient, abandoned Mifis mines. Continuing our adventure, we will meet authentic Berber nomad families living in hand-woven tents, sharing a customary cup of mint tea while learning about their harsh but beautiful way of life. In the late afternoon, you will embark on a magical sunset camel trek across the shifting sand dunes to your luxury desert camp. Enjoy a traditional dinner, lively Berber drumming around the fire, and sleep under a breathtaking blanket of stars.

Day 4

Merzouga Draa Valley Ouarzazate Marrakech

An early wake-up call rewards you with a spectacular, unforgettable sunrise over the vast Sahara dunes, watching the colors shift from purple to brilliant gold. After breakfast, ride your camel back to the edge of the desert to reunite with your driver. We then begin our long but beautiful journey back to Marrakech, driving through the seemingly endless palm groves of the Draa Valley. We cross the rugged Anti-Atlas mountains via the dramatic Tizi n'Tnifift pass, arriving in Ouarzazate for a brief rest. Finally, we traverse the High Atlas mountains once more, taking in the spectacular scenery before arriving back in the vibrant city of Marrakech in the late afternoon or early evening.
