Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1

Marrakech Tizi n'Tichka Pass Ait Ben Haddou Ouarzazate

Your grand desert adventure begins in the morning as we leave Marrakech and immediately start climbing into the majestic High Atlas Mountains. The road twists and turns across the famous Tizi n'Tichka pass, reaching an altitude of 2,260 meters, where we will stop frequently to admire the panoramic views of terraced valleys and traditional Berber villages clinging to the mountainsides. By midday, we arrive at the spectacular, UNESCO-protected Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. You will have ample time to explore this ancient, labyrinthine fortified city, recognizing its iconic mud-brick towers from films like 'Gladiator' and the series 'Game of Thrones'. After a guided walk and lunch, we make the short drive to Ouarzazate, known as the cinematic capital of Morocco, where you will settle into your riad for the first night.

Day 2

Ouarzazate Skoura Oasis Rose Valley Dades Valley

Today's journey takes us along the legendary 'Road of a Thousand Kasbahs', a route steeped in history and natural beauty. Our first major stop is the lush Skoura Oasis, a massive palm grove that hides the magnificent and beautifully preserved Kasbah Amridil. We then continue to Kelaat M'Gouna, the vibrant heart of the Valley of Roses, a region renowned for its annual rose festival and the production of exquisite cosmetic products. As the afternoon progresses, we proceed into the breathtaking Dades Valley. Here, you will be amazed by the bizarre, bulbous rock formations locally known as 'monkey fingers' and the winding, dramatic mountain roads that offer incredible viewpoints. We will check into a traditional Kasbah-style hotel perched on the gorge edge for a peaceful dinner and a restful night.

Day 3

Dades Valley Todra Gorge Erfoud Merzouga Desert

After a hearty breakfast, we depart the Dades Valley and travel to the nearby town of Tinghir to visit the spectacular Todra Gorge. You will have time to walk along the crystal-clear riverbed, completely dwarfed by the sheer, 300-meter-high vertical limestone cliffs that attract climbers from across the globe. Following a traditional lunch, our journey continues southeast, and the landscape begins its dramatic shift into the arid, volcanic plains of the pre-Sahara. We pass through the fossil-rich town of Erfoud and the historic crossroads of Rissani before the monumental, golden sand dunes of Erg Chebbi finally appear on the horizon. We arrive in the desert-edge town of Merzouga, where you will check into a comfortable, Kasbah-style hotel to relax by the pool and prepare for tomorrow's desert immersion.

Day 4

Merzouga Excursion Khamlia Village Nomad Families Desert Camp

This entire day is dedicated to uncovering the secrets of the Sahara! We begin with an exhilarating 4x4 off-road adventure circling the massive dune fields. We will visit the seasonal lake of Dayet Srji, and stop in the desert village of Khamlia to experience a live performance of deeply spiritual, authentic Gnawa music. The tour takes us further off the grid to visit nomad families living in traditional woven tents, offering a humbling glimpse into their enduring, hospitable way of life. In the late afternoon, the 4x4s are left behind as you mount your camel for a peaceful trek directly into the heart of the dunes. You will pause to watch a breathtaking desert sunset before arriving at your luxury desert camp, where an unforgettable evening of traditional music, delicious food, and stargazing awaits.

Day 5

Merzouga Draa Valley Agdz Ouarzazate Marrakech

Wake up early to witness a spectacular Saharan sunrise, watching the cool morning light transform the dunes from shadowy grays to vibrant oranges and reds. After a hearty breakfast at the camp, you will ride your camel back to the meeting point to reunite with your driver. We depart Merzouga, embarking on a different, incredibly scenic route for our return journey. We drive through the vast, awe-inspiring Draa Valley, following the path of Morocco's longest river, which is flanked by millions of date palms and the crumbling ruins of ancient kasbahs. We will make stops in the historic market town of Agdz and Ouarzazate for breaks and lunch. The final leg of the journey takes us over the High Atlas Mountains once more, arriving back in the vibrant streets of Marrakech in the early evening to conclude your grand tour.
